(FLASHBACK) : The "Watchmen (2009)" World Premiere 'noir' Journal

On 23rd February 2009, London held the World Premiere of Zack Snyder’s “Watchmen” - and I like both the movie and the graphic novel it was adapted from. Hence : a fond look backwards, with a 10th Anniversary “Noir” Red Carpet Monochrome journal of re-edited photos from that night. No comments, just photos.

Here’s how it went down:

So… that was that. Probably the oldest nighttime premiere I’ve been able to go back to and re-edit ten years later and found the photos to be…. reasonable, actually. They were taken on a Pentax K10D which was at the time 3 years old, with a 90mm f2.8 macro lens attached… though I hadn’t yet got into the habit of photographing the crowds and environment as much as I now like to.

As for the movie? I liked it. Own it in regular and extended cuts, and own the graphic novel in both paperback and (appropriately) signed ‘Noir’ hardcover versions.

Until next time!

ps. if you want to know when I post one of these journals (typically in colour and with commentary, as with the ‘original’ Watchmen premiere Journal here, or commemorative black’n’white journals such as the ones for The Avengers Age of Ultron RCM or Fantastic Beasts RCM) feel free to follow me on facebook, or on twitter.

The 2019 BAFTAs : Red Carpet / Monochrome

February 10th, 2019.

As already previously documented here in the commentary-filled, full-length journal, my 2019 Baftas wasn’t great but it was infinitely better than 2018 (where no photos were taken). But much as I love heading home after an event and getting a journal done before I go to bed that night / early the next morning… I do like putting together a commentary-free alternative, monochrome-and-widescreen journal for a large enough event in the following days.

Here’s how this one went down:

So.. that was that. Perhaps it lacked the ‘invisible’ glamour that comes from having the photos ‘set’ on the red carpet in the middle of an event - the backgrounds are a bit more stark and strange (and the presence of car doors distracting), however given the alternative, this wasn’t too bad at all.

Until next time? I… actually can’t and won’t promise that.

Still, it’s one for The Archive and it joins the RedCarpetMonochrome journals for the baftas in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
