A Giant Premiere and a Giant Turd

March 26th, 2016.

I've just come back from watching Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice, and unsurprisingly it sucked. I'm not sure why that would surprise anyone, given the same people who make a movie that sucked last time were given even more money this time... and guess what it sucked more.

Basically, they doubled down on The Stupid and maths happened.

That said, the premiere was fun. I enjoyed that. I didn't have to pay (except I took a day off work so damn you WB you DID cost me) and it met some fun people and I think Gal Gadot possibly likes me as much as I like her (which I'd say is a lot). Some highlights from the premiere are below, with a link to the full journal on each image as well as by clicking here

The kind of look that makes me blame everyone but Gal Gadot for how bad teh movie is (and maybe one or two of the catering crew who probably had little to do with it)

A longer "Movies Pessimistically Appraised" review may eventually follow, but for now my thoughts on Batman v Superman are copy-pasted from my stream-of-consciousness typing here:

"Please don't tell people what you really think... not until the movie crosses $300 mil?" Denied. But I'm sure it'll make enough money because people are stupid. Also, in other news : I'm people and I'm stupid.

Oh, and/but in other news there were actually two premieres in the past week or so ("Eddie The Eagle" with Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton, and the BFI Flare premiere of 'The Pass') AND the 2016 Empire Awards (with Star Wars' Daisy Ridley and Anthony Daniels).

More premieres and events have been scheduled. Good times. Bad movies. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Daisy Ridley at The 2016 Empire Awards. I'm not ready to profess any major positive feelings towards Star Wars The Force Awakens, but I've just come back from watching Batman v Superman and... well... it might happen.
