10 Jul - The 'Finding Dory' European Premiere

July 10th, 2016

Sunday premieres aren't exactly the norm in London, however sometimes I'll make the journey in if I have nothing better to do, and supermodels don't require my assistance elsewhere and in other ways. Fortunately (?) this was one of those days...

Here's how it went down:

If any studio can make even a cynic like me excited about a sequel, it's Pixar. In a world where Cars2 doesn't exist, they haven't really set a foot wrong where movies - even sequels - are concerned. And they're doing premieres (they did one for "Inside Out" last year too)

Staring contest! (I lost - they had a sign for Independence Day Resurgence on the indicator board behind, and I'd kind of forgotten that movie existed)

... and there's almost no evidence to suggest that Ellen doesn't love you right back.

I'm not sure if musician Aleesha Dixon features on the Finding Dory soundtrack, but I guess it's more likely to be her than any number of Scandinavian Symphonic Metal bands...

Swimmer Rebecca Adlington has managed to parlay two Olympic Gold and two Olympic Bronze medals into tickets to a premiere in London's Leicester Square four years later. I'm kinda jealous - the movie looks excellent!

Ellen DeGeneres, the titular "Dory" in Finding Dory, appears to have been found by screaming kids, adults and halfbreed mutant autograph collectors alike.

You may remember Ellen DeGeneres from the roughly 2000 episodes of The Ellen DeGeneres show, where she plays the lead character... I think her name on that show is "Steve".

"My character's name is what now?". I'm actually watching "Finding Nemo" as I'm writing this journal and I gotta say she's pretty brilliant as Dory in that film... and that film is also pretty great

Ellen DeGeneres has been married to Australia's Own <tm> Portia De Rossi since 2008 and is possibly still best known for being on Ally McBeal, which I might or might not have watched numerous seasons of back in the day.

Among other films, Dominic West was in the (I believe) massively underrated "John Carter" (of Mars), directed by Andrew Stanton who also directed this film and Finding Nemo and "Wall-E"

"If you're waiting for more autographs, might I recommend watching Finding Nemo and just letting the Menu play for a couple of minutes......" It's actually pretty good.

I don't have the right to post this video. It's not my video. I don't know how it got here. If you've watched this video, you need to go out RIGHT NOW and buy Finding Nemo. Or hire it at Blockbuster or something. (You're welcome, Disney).

"This guy is about to get sued by Disney SO HARD he'll be posting his journals by Fax Machine." I guess it's good I don't have any kids -- I hear Disney take your firstborn for copyright infringement.

"I hear in the future, Disney is going to limit the amount of time you're allowed to remember having watched one of their films before they make you wipe it from your memory." And I for one can't wait until I can no longer remember Chicken Little and Mars Needs Moms.

"You're looking forward to Toy Story 4?? So are Disney's accountants!" - Andrew Stanton not only directed (and wrote) Wall-E, he also wrote the original story and screenplays for all the Toy Story Films AND along with writing and directing Finding Nemo, was the voice of the sea turtle Crush in that movie!

So... that was a Sunday premiere, and the first of a scheduled three in three days for London, which is nice. And it's another entry for The Archive of Movie premieres, too.

Until next time!
