24 Apr - The 'Outside Bet' Premiere

Somewhere between photographing "Scarlett Johansson and the cast of Marvel's Avengers"  .... and "Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge at African Cats" there was another premiere. No, not t a major one, and also not for the enticingly-titled film "Strippers vs Werewolves" (which would have been a sight to see...), but another premiere, a Comedy called "Outside Bet" about which I knew nothing except that Bob Hoskins (from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1989)" was in it, and, I learned, he wasn't coming to the premiere.

Well.... I was in the area. Here's how it went down:

I will confess one thing - had the 'other' premiere scheduled for today ("Strippers vs Werewolves") taken place, I would have gone to that one. Obviously.

Totally DOESN'T owe me five dollars.

This appears to be Jason Maza. He was in the movie but possibly not the premiere of "Demons Never Die". In this film his character is called 'Mickey' and in other films he has played characters called Sherbet, Dave, Felix, Ralphus, Eli, Luke, Kenny, Mannie, Danny, Darren, Richard, Felix, Jonesy, Dan, Tyler, Adam, and "Billy's Brother". I totally loved him as "Billy's Brother".

It's not often that I'd look at a guy and say "he's obviously the wealthy financier of the film" . But I don't know who this guy is. He's got a great suit, and he's not the director, and not in the cast. So... totally a wealthy financier.

Emily Atack was in 'The Inbetweeners', which I haven't watched nor went to the premiere of. But I do love the name, and she's not unpretty either. (I am sooooo smooth with the ladiez it's vitally important that I not be allowed to speak to one, like, ever)

Owing to her youth, haircolour, and black dress, the fantastically-named 'Emily Atack' was, on the face of it, the main drawcard at this premeire. Neither Bob Hoskins nor the Horse could compete with any of those factors, and hence (presumably) declined to attend.

This arm belongs to somebody wireimage identifies as Mark Harris. Wikipedia helpfully lists several possibilities as to why he may be famous, including : author (1922-2007), American footballer, husband (!), politician, programmer, rugby league player, jazz musician, or welsh bodybuilder.

Whatever game the guy on the laptop is playing, you just know it's fiendishly addictive...

This is Lucy Drive. She's in the film, and her filmography doesn't ring any bells, but still, it's a great dress, AND she's better looking than Bob Hoskins. And she's here.

Rita Tushingham is best known for her role as Lara's love child in 'Doctor Zhivago (1965)'. Which I'm sure you were racking your brains over.

I was going to delete this photo on the basis (broadly) of "Philip Davis is who?" but then I note that he was in the movie Alien3. Which is going to come in handy in six degrees of Kevin Bacon, because I can now connect everyone in "The Inbetweeners" to him, then him to Sigourney Weaver in Alien3, and she was in "Aliens" with Bill Paxton, who was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon. Done!!

This is Dudley Sutton. Ordinarily I'd merely comment on the hat and then move on. But my favourite sentence from his wikipedia entry is : "In August 2003, he performed the one-man 'Killing Kittens' show at Edinburgh's Underbelly". Which certainly invites a rethink.

"OMG you're That Guy From That Thing!!!". She herself is Rebecca Ferdinando, and I think the autograph dealers were REALLY stretching things getting her to sign 'X-Men First Class' DVDs. She had an uncredited role as '1980s croupier' in that film. Wow.

"I get that all the time, baby". Again, I turn to wikipedia to get me something, ANYTHING interesting about Richard Blackwood who this is. And as usual, it does not disappoint: "Blackwood is step-brother of (supermodel) Naomi Campbell after his father was married to her mother for a time"

I had no idea who Jenny Agutter is, but since this premiere I've watched "The Avengers" and she has a credit role in that, on the title card after the two Agents! She plays one of the shadowy 'world government' figures that Samuel L Jackson talks with on several occasions.

I'm going to go with 'Vladimir Putin's younger genetic clone", because the alternative is to go with Wireimage, who called him Jason Maza, the same person with the sunglasses and blue tie they also called Jason Maza. So he's somebody's clone, I'm just not sure whose.

And finally, this is director Sacha Bennett. Other than his awesome silken suit, I would say that imdb's trivia entry on him (that he could legally fly before he could drive) is what I like best about him.

And that, rather randomly (even more so than usual) is another one "For The Archive of Movie Premieres"

Until next time!!
