29 Mar - The 'Wrath of the Titans' premiere

March 29th, 2012.

Fans of the word 'Wrath' have waited 30 long years since the second Star Trek film to see it in a movie title once again. Well... good news!

And, merely two days after the mega-(re)premiere of "Titanic (3D)" London's latest premiere as for "Wrath of the Titans", the sequel to the wildly successful and equally wildly derided movie "Clash of the Titans". Well... if it makes money at least they'll keep having premieres....

The BFI Imax is in the centre of a giant roundabout in the southbank, with the entranceway sunk below streetlevel. It's an interesting spot to hold a premiere. All that aside, I'm not really attending for the art or culture - it's photography and the possibility that actress Rosamunde Pike might show...

"I don't know why those ancient temples are so revered - you could build one in an afternoon!". I might be making light of things, but all I can say is that my current position sucks, and the giant pillar to my right is definitely going to get in the way of photography. That and the hordes of autograph hunters wanting Liam Neeson autographs.

I've made a bold call, and have switched location: I've actually left the premiere and taken up a spot on the narrow kerb of the roundabout, looking down onto the premiere. Security at the Mission Imposible Ghost Protocol premiere took an exceedingly dim view of such behaviour, but they were letting it go here (aren't you glad I'm here to tell you these things?)

Some more good news : they've got female gladiators I can artfully frame against the ivy trellises! (and it's very few premieres I can say that about!)

Jonathan Liebesman is the director of this film. If he is true to the mad skillz of his last two outings (Clash of the Titans and Battle LA) many will probably prefer bittorrent to paying for a cinema ticket.... and the film will still make money. Somehow.

Aussie Sam Worthington (the lead actor in James Cameron's "Avatar") arrives, looking slightly lost but ultimately cheerful. His girlfriend? Stunning (not pictured).

Sadly, I completely failed to not have the lyrics "Oh, we can't help but wonder...." going through my head when Liam Neeson arrived, toothpick and all. (You either listen to Hollywood Babylon or you don't...)

If you can't help but wonder either, then if you're reading this at work I suggest that the admins. might have blocked access to that site.

"We've been walking for fifteen minutes. Just exactly how long is this road/temple thing and how do we get back to the premiere??"

Toby Kebbell was last seen by me at the premiere of "RocknRolla" back when Madonna was still married to Guy Ritchie. His suit is very sharp... it's hurting the sensor on my camera.

Foreground arrival : the awesomely named Alejandro Naranjo. (What... STILL no Rosamunde Pike? Damn, based on this movie it's already clear that they have like ONE girl in all of ancient Greece and they STILL don't invite her to the premiere?)

In the absence of Rosamunde Pike, my camera's attention (and mine) may wander..

.... and at least they invited Sam Worthington's girlfriend. I believe her name is 'Crystal'... not because I'm snarkily dismissive when lonely, but because that's what wireimage actually informs me. (Unless THEY'RE snarkily dismissive and lonely?)

"And to think.... my parents wanted me to become an accountant. HA!"

Liam Neeson has also found The Ladiez. (He did not however find time to sign even a single autograph. That's okay, his *cough* is so big it's been delegated to sign on his behalf as well as its own)

"Yeah, I've seen it. It's so big it needed four writers just to provide it with dialogue"

This may be the world's largest and most irritatingly high-pitched girl band. (?). The people behind them are obviously not fans...

Interesting (?) Fact : the stars don't always stay to see the film at a premiere, so this may not specifically be a criticism of Jonathan Liebesman's work. But I'd like to think it is. This was about twenty minutes or so after the screening started.

Well, that shatters THAT particular illusion. Also, guess who feels like an idiot for being one level and about 20-30 metres. Wouldn't matter if I was Liam Neeson. He's got reach

Had time for some 'art' on the way back.

So... that's another one. Does it join the ever-growing "Archive of Movie Premieres"? It sure does

Until next time!
