9 Dec - The 'Hitchcock' Premiere

December 9th, 2012.

A rare 2-event day today, with the premiere of 'Hitchcock' at BFI Southbank followed by "BIFA" - the British Independent Film Awards - in a dark, cold, and ill-lit London Street a short while later. I was flying out a day later, so I figured I'd best go to both - the Awards, on top of this, my final premiere for 2012.

Here's how it went down:

The movie is 'Hitchcock'. And, one day, they will make a film called 'Lucas'. And it will be interesting. But Scarlett Johansson won't be required to get naked in it, so there will be limits to just exactly how interesting.

I arrived late, but my spot was not without merit. That said, despite my efforts, there is not a frikkin' single BIRD in this shot (I was going for profound....). Unbelievable. Still... Mirren and Hopkins pose. That's something.

"I"m not even going to answer that question, I'm just going to stand here and look awesome." Well played, Sir.

".... everyone keeps asking me about Tom Hiddleson these days. It's quite distracting. I mean, I'm trying to film a naked shower scene with Scarlett Johansson, damnit!"

Director Sacha Gervasi also wrote the Spielberg-directed 'The Terminal' and produced and directed 'Anvil : The Story of Anvil'. I have watched none of these films. And I would class my current hairstyle as "neater".

"No, I brush it every day, just like everybody else"

"Of course the Oscar for 'The Queen' meant a lot, obviously, but overall I was rather pleased with my work in the Nicolas Cage sequel 'National Treasure 2' " Ha - I knew it! Dame Helen Mirren is quite awesome.

I've photographed Dame Helen Mirren looking whimsical! It feels kind of strange, life photographing Morgan Freeman playing Angry Birds or something.

And then I photographed Anthony Hopkins looking whimsical, and THAT felt weird too.

Fortunately, things settled down after that, and I got expressions a bit more like 'I'm already planning how I'll be serving your spleen'

"Well, you SAY you're a fan. But if you can't be bothered watching 'The World's Fastest Indian', how can you call yourself that? It's out on DVD - has been for many years!"

It's the Right eye of Anthony Hopkins, but all Facebook can do is ask me to tag the blurry face in the back. Thanks for the props on my photography skillz, Facebook. My wounded pride and I will get right back to you.

"Scarlett Johansson? Talented" She wasn't at the premiere, sadly.

"Sure I'll etch my autograph into your neck with a protractor" . Dame Helen Mirren is pretty hardcore - she has her own tattoos, so there's a chance she actually might.

One last bit of near-eye-contact, and it's time to head off to the ill-lit and Dealer-rich environment of BIFA - the British Independent Film Awards.

But where premieres are concerned, that's it for 2012. If you're after photos from the premieres of Jack Reacher, The Hobbit and The Double, y'all are going to have to look elsewhere, sadly. But (hopefully) I'll be back doing these in 2013!!

It's another for "The Archive of Movie Premieres" too!

Until Next time!
