13 Oct - the BFI LFF 'Antiviral' Premiere

October 13th, 2012.

Within half an hour of the premiere of "Rust and Bone", which in itself was barely hours after the premiere of "Ginger and Rosa", there was a THIRD premiere - a small one for a movie called "Antiviral". Who needs food and toilet breaks? Losers, that's who.

Here's how THIS ONE went down:

Nice poster. Glad I'm not hungry for dinner.

Is clearly worried that they might consider releasing Smallpox or Cholera as part of the marketing campaign for this movie. With so much of London Film Festival left to go, I can't really risk infection either...

Weirdly, actress Sarah Gadon has been in two of  director David Cronenberg's films, and is now in one of his Son's : Brandon Cronenberg, who dircted this film. (It's 2014 as I write this, so I've since seen both David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis and A Dangerous Method - both good)

"Yes, I'd like to say hello to all the little people inside your camera box. Hello! (I kid of course. I'm a director. I know how cameras work)"

It's photos and dresses like this that make me sad that Sarah Gadon, who can (and does) look breathtakingly stunning, doesn't do more movies and attend more premieres (fortunately, I'm from 'the future' and typing this in 2014, where I can report that I subsequently photographed her at the premiere of "Belle")

"I was going to wear cheap sunglasses, a sloppy joe and loose denim with a rastafarian beanie if they'd let me". Well, then I'm glad they didn't.

Without wanting to bring down the normally high quality tone of these journals, I do wish London was having more of a heatwave in October than it has been. A quick look at imdb showing what Sarah Gadon was wearing at various premieres and events to promote this movie shows London (or more specifically "I") really missed out.

That's about as much glamour as I can manage. A tracksuit is a tracksuit, and I can only do so much. (Sorry, Miss Gadon!)

Brandon Cronenberg suspects I'm not being coolly smooth enough about my obvious attraction to Sarah Gadon. He may be right.

"I'm going for 'quirky, yet potentially terrifying'. Did you capture that?" No... but the expression on the short lady in front of Brandon Cronenberg comes close, I think.

So that was another one, and there's more planned on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I might get some sleep occasionally... but at least I'm populating my Archive of Movie Premiere journals

Until next time!

By the way, if you ever want to know when I post one of these journals feel free to follow me on twitter @berndt2_photo or on facebook at premieresdotco.
