Well, it seems the impossible has happened and I'm back in London, with a job and working hours that are, if anything, even more Premieres-friendly than before. All I need to do is grab my gear and head to Leicester Square and..
wait.... they have weekend premiere at Westfieds Shepherds Bush, now?
The array of vocal talent for this suggested the possibility of a pretty cool premiere.
Leicester Square is seemingly being ripped apart and being rebuilt for the Olympics, and this means that premieres in London are apparently mostly being held indoors at Vue Westfields. In winter, that's going to be a good thing....
So this is what you can do with an indoor premiere... lots of vantagepoints, if nothing else. And now .... because things are clearly not crowded (yet), time for breakfast....)
I do hope I look this cool when I'm taking photos. Well... I mean in a masculine way, obviously.
Woo! Jack Black arrives! But I'll spoil the following 'surprise' : not one out of Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, Gary Oldman, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, Jean-Claude Van Damne, Michelle Yeah, who are also voices in this movie, came to this event. Wow. Excuses from any one of them?
.. At least the dragon made an effort. (Damn you Van Damme - what the hell are you doing right now that's more important than this premiere??)
So anyway, Jack Black decided to show up (I'd previously photographed him at the Tropic Thunder Premiere). He was so important that the dude pedalling the rickshaw had several practice runs around the red carpet before the premiere...
ME: Now, about the five dollars you owe me?
"Mr Black will be settling all personal and private debts at the afterparty. And no... we're not telling you where the afterparty is. Okay... it's Belarus. Please make your way to Belarus..."
Jack Black takes the stage in the quiet, dignified way he is renowned for....
You know, I don't even know if Jack Black realises this was an animated movie...
Just found out that paper DOES beat rock.
"But this is how I get discounts at Burger Chef"
Jennifer Yuh Nelsen directed the film and said Jack Black was fun to work with. I'll bet. Whether he stuck to the script at any point might also have been interesting to find out.
She was in Atomic Kitten, on the off chance this means anything to anyone. (Cue wikipedia....)
She's Rachel Stevens. Neighbours? Home and Away? (checks wikipedia...) : English singer-songwriter, actress, dancer, television personality and model, and former member of the band S Club Seven. Yeah... but ... but.... .Angelina JOLIE has an actual CONNECTION to this film!
Okay, so maybe I'm not THAT annoyed Angelina Jolie didn't show up.
I didn't catch her name, but we met at Kung Fu Panda. Relationships have surely been formed over less, or perhaps I'm once again reading too much into things?
"He was so silent and restrained on set..... or maybe I'm thinking about Gary Oldman". You're probably thinking of Gary Oldman.
That's a pretty fortuitous parting of the paparazzi, right there....
And then it was time to go! (Seriously? Van Damme had better things to do??)
Incidentally, if you can tell me why any of the following are famous: Lizzy Cundy, Jenny Frost, Jasmine Guinness, Carrie Grant, Alice Beer, Sarah Cawood or Nicola MacLean are famous I'd consider posting those shots too. And if you know the name and/or contact detail of the 'not Angelina Jolie' that would be highly appreciated 8)

Theoretically, there are two more coming up very soon (and sadly I'll be missing Transformers III, though I hated the second one and will retrospectively consider my nonattendance to be a form of protest).
