23 Oct - 'Tintin & the Secret of the Unicorn' premiere

October 23rd, 2011.

Plans don't always work out. For example, the plan was that I'd go to the Tintin premiere, photograph director Steven Spielberg, exchange high-fives and autographs (maybe he likes my movie premiere journals!?), then head across the square and take in the premiere for Madonna's "W.E.".

But then reality intervened, and Spielberg didn't show, and this premiere started so late that the Madonna premiere was in lockdown by the time I got out.

Life is hard. You adapt.

Here's how it all went down:

I'm a big fan of Herge and Tintin and Spielberg and Jackson, so this is a movie I'll go see. (Even despite the crushing realisation that Spielberg chose to travel about 90% of the way to London by being in Paris and Brussels yesterday but finding somewhere better to be today. (Montmartre or Bruges, maybe. They're both nice.)

They brought a Snowy dog to the premiere! (it was briefly transfixed by a a guy nearby eating Chinese, but it was otherwise very well behaved)

Oddly, there was a preview screening of Tintin just BEFORE the premiere, and this guy showed up. He looked familiar, though, and a lady nearby said he was a policeman in the most recent Sherlock Holmes movie. Very true - he's also the creepy weirdo bad guy in 'Hancock'

It's the list!! But the director ain't on it. Snubbed.

"Jef!!! I'm over here next to the blonde reporter lady. Yeah, she's pretty hot and I think she's got a real crush on me and my new hair colour. I totally saw her checking me out and she might have deliberately brushed up against me. I'm totally going to ask her our."

"No, actually I'm here for the Madonna premiere of 'W.E.'. Why?"

Actor Nick Frost (the voice of either Thompson or Thomson) has had a haircut. That is all.

Daniel Craig's eyes are actually this colour. Not that I habitually go around changing peoples' eye colour on a whim in these journals, but still. Uncanny.

Current James Bond Daniel Craig looks a little grizzled. That could also be due to the remarkable optical quality of the Paparazzi special 70-200mm f2.8 I was rocking at this premiere.

Nick Frost, ever so slightly blurry. It could be ART (because Blurry = Art) , but it could also be partially due to the remarkable WEIGHT of the Paparazzi special 70-200mm f2.8 I was rocking at this premiere.

If you subscribe to the belief that Blurry = Art (and I certainly do), then I got your ART right here! (if you squint a bit you can make out that it's Simon Pegg.... or my old landlady. Maybe wearing a tie...)

"You want to give me your stuffed dog? But I can't take it... I don't know what to feed it. REAL dogs, of course - they eat dog food.... but this thing?"

Simon Pegg is the voice of either Thomson or Thompson, as well as Scotty in the new Star Trek, Shaun in Shaun of the Dead.Very cool - love the glasses.

I have no idea who she is, but she rocks a three-quarter profile and that's always worth celebrating.

"I'll go you one better. I'll sign this by *FEEL*. (Of course I can do that, baby : I'm famous!)"

Jamie Bell (the voice of Tintin) is most famously known for playing Billy Elliot in the movie "Billy Elliot", however he seems more familiar to me than that - he was in (and at the premiere for) the movie "Defiance" with Daniel Craig AND he was the young kid on the boat in Peter Jackson's "King Kong". Bet he's glad he kept on the good side of Peter Jackson - producer of this film.

Again, no idea of her name, but (a) LOVE the pose and (b) all-male premiere. Mind (and/or direction camera is pointed) WILL inevitably wander eventually.

Jamie Bell thinking, like, really, really hard about that question. ("Can you sign this... please?")

Jamie Bell, really really focussed on where he's walking next. Note for fans : he _does_ actually smile at times.

So.. that was that. Another one for The Archive of Movie Premieres.  And while the London Film Festival is almost over, there's still a few more premieres in the next few days to look forward to. After that I might get some sleep and comment on y'alls photos again

Until next time!

By the way, if you ever want to know when I post one of these journals feel free to follow me on twitter @berndt2_photo or on facebook at premieresdotco.
