26 Sep - I didn't actually do 'The Abduction' premiere, but...

September 26th, 2011.

At last week's premiere of The Debt I caught some kind of cold/flu/alien infestation that saw me take the next day off and remain a coughing, spluttering wall of noise at least a week later. So even though there was a premiere for the Taylor Lautner film "Abduction" later that day, the point is (a) I'm still suffering from cold/flu/alien invasion, and (b) I also carry an allergy to screaming teenage girls. (The 'Twilight' premiere remains the only premiere I've gone to but walked away from on the grounds of, broadly, "are you serious??")

However, I'm only about a ten minute walk from a major radio station and at one point in the morning they announced they'd be speaking to young Taylor Lautner live later in the day. Screw it, I thought, I'll at least grab some shots.

My fave Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles leaves early to avoid the impending crush. (and/or join it... I'm not saying which)

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! ... oh, wait. I'm not young, female, or a fan of Twilight. I have no reason to hyperventilate.

In answer to the question of am I Team Edward or Team Jacob? it's important to remember two things. 1. I'm a guy, so what do I care?  and 2. The makers have yet to provide a good looking female werewolf to rival Ashley Greene for the Cullen vampire clan, so I guess that answers that question.... except I can't stand vampires, so I guess that makes me Team Jacob (Woo!!!)

"What's this? You've written some 'Twilight' fan-fic? Bring it on, yeah. I love that stuff. What's it called? Okay..."

"I'm not so sure this represents Jake and Edward's relationship in a way Stephanie Meyer intended. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but.... Nono, I'll keep reading..."

"Shhhh, man! It's getting to the good bit!". Twelve minutes later, and security are trying to move Mr Lautner on and the paparazzi are getting restless.

Fortunately I don't really get equipment envy.

So, in summary: It wasn't a premiere, but I felt it was worth it... and what the hell, I'll even put it into the Archive of Movie Premieres. (I just wished I'd found out that both Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis were at the same radio station a month or so earlier for a movie that never had a premiere....).

And to give young Mr Lautner due credit - there were maybe 20-30 semi-rabid fans waiting for him outside the station, and as far as I saw he signed and posed with every single one who wanted a picture and everyone went away happy. Which is a good thing.

And then I went back to the office, and didn't go to the premiere, and went home and coughed.

Until next time!
